July 18th is the national cow appreciation day at the US of A
A day to honour an animal much abused by mankind. From the hide to the meat, even its milk we seem to usurp it all. In India even the urine is used (go mutra) as an immune builder, and systemic cleanser, while the cow dung is the traditional antiseptic, and mosquito repellent.
Interesting isn’t it, wonder which cow are the Americans going to appreciate. Definitely not the large unpleasant woman who is generally addressed as a cow. So it to either be
--The female bovine that has had a calf, it could be reindeers, moose, elephants or wapiti or even a whale.
Or
As the Webster calls it a wedge, a break, or anything that checks the motion of a machine.
Holy cow-- what contradiction – holy cow is also American slang. This went through being banned as bad language.
Anyway, tracing this holiday was fun; there is no document of any origin.
It appears that chick-fil-A the fast-food chain, launched this unofficial holiday as a sales gimmick, all one had to do was to wear a white and black dotted costume, a cow bell and fur ears and jump into the nearest outlet, for a free combo meal.
All the best don’t get cowed by the two legged cow with a mini white frock and black polka dots, of course the fur ear and cow bells are on too. If you are cowed, then cow your car and moo—v e—on.
Have a moovalous day
